Ductless air conditioning systems have become very popular for their small size, flexibility for zoning and cooling individual rooms, and the fact that these systems consume less energy than traditional central HVAC units.

“Oversized or incorrectly located air-handlers often result in short-cycling, which wastes energy and does not provide proper temperature or humidity control. Too large a system is also more expensive to buy and operate.”
If you’re installing a ductless system in a 2,000 square foot space, for instance, costs can range anywhere from $1,800 to $7,000 for the equipment and installation of a system sized appropriately for the cooling needs of your home or office.

| Double | BTU at 18k, an above average SEER rating of 16 or higher, and a price of roughly $2500 for the equipment alone. |
| Triple | BTU at 24K, an above average SEER rating of 16.2 or higher, and a price of $3000 for the equipment. |
| Quad | BTU of 24K, a SEER rating of 16.5 or higher, and a cost of $3800 or more. |
Additional costs can include poured concrete for an outdoor condenser, creating an opening in exterior walls, upgrading electrical supplies, electrical wiring and removing of old HVAC equipment.
